B.F.C.A was established in 1989, and is a voluntary, independent organisation run by Foster Carers for Foster Carers.
This Is What We Do
We have a committee of 23 representing all areas of fostering. The B.F.C.A is funded by Birmingham Children Young People & Families and work with the Department in partnership advancing the views and recommendations at management meetings and working parties to improve the support, service and remuneration of Birmingham Foster Carers. Our support workers are extremely experienced Foster Carers who have all faced the traumas and stress of Fostering. Our Aims are as to support all Foster Carers, raise the profile of Foster Care and encourage professionalism
Our Achievements are as follows: - Started the first NVQ’s for Birmingham Foster Carers.
- Secured funding to start fee paid scheme.
- Planted the seed for the recruitment shop.
- Successfully negotiated improved terms & conditions for carers.
